On February 19, the City of Montreal decided not to renew the pilot project for self-service electric scooters (Lime, Bird), without anchoring . It is important to know that this decision by the City has no impact on the circulation of the GEEBEE . We do not have the same business model and we are subject to different regulations.
For 7 years now, we have developed a radically different Quebec concept of electric scooters. Our vehicle, the GEEBEE, is safer and is currently being tested by many cities as part of a collaboration with the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec ( SAAQ ) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec ( MTQ ) . In this regard, our project is progressing very well and more than 500 participants received an evaluation questionnaire in December 2019. In the coming weeks, the SAAQ will submit its analysis which, all in all, should be very positive: no incidents reported and new cities users for the 2020 season. We believe in sustainable mobility and are doing everything we can to ensure that a Quebec solution meets the challenges facing Quebec cities. You will therefore continue to see GEEBEE in the streets of Montreal and other municipalities.
Beyond our borders, our concept is exported very well and we would like Ontario, which has adopted new regulations, to be inspired by what we do in Quebec. As committed players, we will be present at the Ontario Traffic Council e-Scooter Symposium on March 5 to meet and educate many Ontario municipalities about our innovative, accessible and ecological solutions.
